invisible cities-tangent
Jan. 2nd, 2011 03:46 pmThere are cities that are larger than the buildings and the streets and the lives they are made of; there are cities that are all-consuming mausoleums of people and desire; there are cities that dream they are the at the pinnacle of everything that has ever been filed under the heading civilization, and then their canals rush up into their streets and human voices will wake them, if they are lucky. Look: there are cities, and then there are the things people believe cities are, and sometimes the latter become more real then the former.
Only anything I write about them will have my feet screaming falsehood and treachery, because the cities I know smell like vehicle exhaust and fish and sunlight and human heat, and I have them in my bones. Or vice versa; I don't mind either way. But augh, football fic.

I don't want to go back to school yet, but then again, who does?
Also: Birmingham 0-3 Arsenal, and La Liga is back. Here we go. If I have to lack sleep, then it may as well be for all the right reasons.
