DL. Stupid, stupid DL. I'm in the DL. Oh, the joy.
Have you ever noticed that nobody ever tells you to relax? Ever? No matter what grade you get, you are told to "try harder", to "keep up the good work", to "concentrate more on your studies", to "maximize your potential". Whether your average is a 1.17 or a 2.87, that doesn't change. No one congratulates you, or tells you to relax and not be so uptight about your grades. No one tells you to live your life, or that your world doesn't have to be centered on scores and studying, or that high school only happens once.
No, everyone tells you that a bunch of numbers on a biodegradable card that no one will ever bother with after your first year of college is more important than four years of your life.
I wonder if people really die due to things like heart diseases or strokes or getting run over by a truck, or if those are just excuses they have so that they can finally get a blessed rest. I can understand the feeling.
Maybe we should do away with the concept of "DL" altogether. It never made anyone happy.
My fifth grade self is staring at me and asking, Are you sure you're you?
Yup, I feel like telling her. You grew up.
