She dreams of music, streaming effortlessly and note perfect from an organ that is a violin that is a symphony that by human standards cannot exist, and cannot be heard, and of songs that weave words and melodies together in a concert that wakes lava and stirs large cats from their sleep, and of the language of the centuries, which every poet strains to hear. In a classroom in the city of Alcina the most beautiful girl in the world dreams, and she dreams the universe.

Past this point, doorkeeper, lie things mankind was never meant to lay its eyes on. Pass these gates and you will enter the world of things locked away because to see them was to see pure energy and pure thought and purity, complete purity, is the first step towards the descent to madness. Here lie the remains of libraries long since burned and buried whose ashes still spark at the slightest touch of the sentient mind. Here lies every word that was ever written and every word that has yet to be set down on the page. Here lies the domain of the sea-dragon kings, who coil round continents and answer to the divine and will never die. When they move the earth shakes and waters rise to envelop the land. Here is the birthplace of rivers and worlds and whirlwinds. Here is the cemetery of the gods. It will always be growing, and it will never be visited. Here lies Father Time, chained hand and foot by sunlight to the floor of his cavern. Every quarter eternity a chain breaks, and when they have all gone nothing will be the same, and there is only one chain remaining.
Walk anywhere else, doorkeeper. Walk anywhere you please. In your labyrinth are keys to all of existence. But do not set foot into these halls. There are some things not even knowledge can see.
