Dear Calculus,
The only thing that's going through my mind right now is, Dammit, not you again.
Okay, not really, but it's a fairly accurate summary of all of the things that are. Let's be honest with each other: when we first met, on the first day of my last year of high school, I wasn't sure I'd like you. You were definitely erring on the side of not liking me, for which I cannot blame you. If I were you I would probably not like me either. Nevertheless we decided to give each other a chance, which, as you may recall, ended in disaster. Complete and total disaster. I did not fail majorly in any way (all right, maybe I did, once), and neither did you, but as any teenager in a relationship can tell you, it's the little things that count.
I was, if not glad, then at least relieved, when the time to say goodbye started rolling around, and no doubt you felt something of the sort as well, if only because having to put up with such a stubbornly mediocre student every day for ten months would have tired anyone out. I knew the day would come when we would have to meet again, and I knew we were both hoping that things would work out better when that day came.
But for goodness' sakes, did that day have to come so soon?
They say it's better to die on your feet than to live on your knees. When it comes to you, I'm sure I'll end up doing the former.
